Mixed Doubles League Format

(as of 11/15/08)
Dates: The Mixed Doubles League is scheduled to begin play on Wed., Dec. 10, 2008 at 8:00 PM. All matches will be played on Wednesday nights unless a make-up is needed. The playing times will be 8-9 and 9-10 PM.
Playing Time: Each match will be played by a timer clock of 5 minutes to warm up and 54 minutes of playing time. The final minute will be used to exit the court for the next court renters or to complete a sudden-death game point in a match. An alarm will begin play and the same-sounding alarm will end play.
Team Makeups: Teams will be comprised of no less than 4 players, 2 women and 2 men. The maximum players on a team cannot exceed 6. Each roster must list at least 4 players and a manager, who might be one of the 4 or more players.

Substitutes: Teams may list 2 substitutes who are allowed to play half of the team's matches. These substitutes must follow all league rules and regulations.
Play Regulations: Matches will be played under the No-Ad regulation, with the receiving team choosing their receiver on all game points for both teams. (There are no woman to woman or man to man mandates.)
The no-let rule will be in effect, assuring teams that each serve will be good or bad.
Teams will play sets even though the cumulative game scores will be added for the entire season. Sets will allow a team to change their personnel, even though changeable personnel will be in effect after any game. The replacement/changeable player must play the same place or position as the replaced player, until the set is concluded.
Playoffs: The top 6 teams, assuming that the league has at least 10 teams, will play in the playoffs. Teams must win 2 out of 3 sets in the playoffs, again with the no-ad format for serving; receivers choice. The winning team will advance to the finals, whereby the final team's members will receive trophies or plaques. Substitutes will not be permitted to play in the playoffs unless other team members are unavailable due to injuries or sickness.
Cost: The team cost is $400.00 per team, which equates to $100.00 per player. The manager is responsible for the entire payment, which means that players are not to pay their $100.00 directly to the league, but to their manager. Substitutes should pay the team manager and any involvement with the league should not exist between the substitutes and the league which involves financial arrangements.
Stats: All stats will be posted and each manager will receive a schedule for league matches. It is the managers' responsibility to inform their team members concerning matches and their personnel.
Taunting-Swearing: Teams are allowed to cheer for their players, but taunting the other team is not allowed. The match administrator will issue a warning prior to deducting points for such unnecessary hounding or swearing.
Other: Any uncovered situations not listed here can be discussed with the match administrator.
