Singles League Format

(as of 10/15/08)
Program Format: The League will consist of four (4) men's divisions and four (4) women's divisions. The Men's Divisions are 4.0, 5.0, 5.5 and 6.5. The Women's Divisions are 3.5, 4.0, 4.5 and 6.5 There is also a limit to the number of participants in each division. This causes a different cost for each division, because each division will play a different number of matches.
Dates: The days will be Saturday 6-8 PM, Sunday 6-8 PM, and Mondays 7-9 PM. This does not mean that a player will play all three days, or even two days, but according to the schedule and each person's availability. The league is scheduled to start on November 15th and should end in late April or early May.
Playing Time: Each match will be played by a timer clock of five (5) minutes to warm up and fifty-four (54) minutes of playing time. The final minute will be used to exit the court for the next players or participants or to complete a sudden-death game point. An alarm will begin play and the same sounding alarm will end play.
Playing Regulations and Scoring: Each game won will be added to a cumulative season total and the leading scorers in each division will play in the season-ending playoffs for prizes and trophies (plaques).

The games format is regular scoring until the second deuce. On the second deuce, no-ad scoring is in effect, which allows the receiver to choose which service square the server should serve the game-deciding point. If, while playing this game-deciding point, the alarm rings, players will be allowed to replay that point because of the alarm interruption.

The no-let rule will be in effect, assuring players that each serve will be good or bad.

Players will play sets even though the cumulative game scores will be added for the entire season. Once a set reaches six (6) games all, a twelve (12) point tiebreaker (first to reach seven (7) by two (2) points ahead) will decide the set winner, with the set winner receiving seven (7) games and the loser six (6) games.

Control: Each match will be observed by a Program Overseer (PO), whose job is to keep the match under control. The PO will observe calls, improper language, racquet abuse, foot faults and other violations. The PO reserves the right to penalize and award points, even games, for violations. If a player is constantly cited for such violations, the league reserves the right to disqualify such player from further participation. Any payments received by that player to the league will not be refunded.
Tardiness: Players arriving late for a match will be penalized one (1) game for every five (5) minutes that they are tardy, with no penalty for the first five (5) minutes of warm-up time. Once a person is thirty (30) minutes late, the on-time player will receive twelve (12) games and the defaulted player zero (0). Such a match will not be rescheduled. If a player is constantly late, the league reserves the right to disqualify that player, without refunding any received payments. Any player in that division of the defaulted player, will receive twelve (12) games for that match.
Cost: The cost per league will vary due to the number of matches each player is required to play. These are the costs:

Men's 4.0 $400.00 (maximum of 8 players - play each player twice)
Men's 5.0 $400.00 (maximum of 12 players - play each player twice)

Stats: All stats will be posted in some place at the facility, whereby players will be able to see their scores.
